“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10
How many times have we been in situations when we have tried everything, run out of ideas and are powerless to do anything more and all hope seems to have dried up? What do we do, when prayer, sharing with others, fasting, serving others, stepping up in our ministry, preoccupying our minds with activities – when nothing helps us forget our helplessness?
None of us have perfect faith. Not until we reach heaven and see Him will we have that perfect relationship. Sure, we have varying maturity levels when it comes to faith. I say this because I believe that many out there doubt their relationship with God when they face the situation I mentioned above. I know I have. If unchecked, the enemy can use doubt to cripple us and lead us astray.
So, what do we do when everything has failed?
Here’s a thought.
Psalm 46:10 says “Be still, and know that I am God..”
Wow! In a day when fast food is not fast enough, the idea of being still is insanity!
Well, that’s exactly what the Word of God says. The Lord allows us to choose. And sometimes, we must choose to stop and do nothing because He wants us to surrender. All right, I think some of you are ready for battle now, thinking to yourselves, “Surrender??! Me??! NEVER!!!”.
We may have a college degree, we may come from a pretty good family, and we may have a nice job, a nice car, a nice house, lots of friends, and a good ministry and so on. Forgive me if I burst your bubble, but in the eyes of the Lord, that means nothing. Job expressed it best when he said
“Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21)
Where am I going with all of this?
The Lord, through His Word and other means, has surely given us intelligence and wisdom to live our lives. But, there are times when all we can do is throw our hands up like Job and confess to the Lord that we are nothing. When all we can do is be still (doing nothing) and know (to be aware of the truth) that He is God! Am I saying that we stop everything else we are doing, like praying or fasting or serving or whatever? No, rather still your restless thoughts and mind and know that though nothing seems to be helping, though your hands are tied, the Lord knows everything and in His time, all will be revealed and sorted out.
What if you have already jumped the gun and tried to help out God? To speed up the process? To apply your “wisdom” and “experience” to get things moving?
Be still 🙂 Because the Word of God in Romans 8:28 assures us thus:
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
So no matter what you’ve been trying to do to overcome your situation, try this on for size. Keep loving Him and living and sharing that love with others. Just be still and know that He is God.
God bless you all.
Thank Sri 🙂
